I’ve seen tons of online reviews about books, and they never seem to be just what I’m look for. So I decided to do one 🙂 Here we go!
Absolutely Truly by Heather Vogel Frederick
This has got to be one of my top 5 favorites. Nothing can beat the ending! Exert: At almost six feet tall, twelve year old Truly Lovejoy stand out in a crowd whether she likes it or not (she doesn’t). So when her family moves to teeny tiny, super boring Pumpkin Falls, New Hampshire, Truly doesn’t stand a chance of blending in. But when helping out at the family book store one day, Truly finds a mysterious letter inside an old copy of Charlotte’s Web and soon she and her new friends are swept up in a mad cap treasure hunt around town. While chasing clues that could spell danger, Truly discovers there’s more to Pumpkin Falls than meets the eye-and that blending in can be overrated. Page count: 355 Good read aloud book. Action adventure, tween recommended.
A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff
I used to barely read, and not enjoy it much at all, but one day I picked this keeper up from the library. The ending is just wonderful, everything you want to happen happens, great read aloud book. Exert: In this remarkable world everyone has a talent… and in 11 year old Cady’s is a phenomenal ability: she can bake the absolutely perfect cake for any person, anywhere. But little does she know that fate as set her on a journey from the moment she was born, leading her to a mysterious address, a family of children struggling to grow beyond their own talents, and a talent thief who will alter her life forever. Page count: 230 Action adventure, tween recommended, has lots of recipes!
